1. Isolated Sandbox Environments
When Training Mode is activated in MayDay-IC, the application creates an isolated sandbox environment that is completely separated from live operational data and active incidents.
- Training mode incidents, patients, resources, and all associated data exist only within the training sandbox
- Training data is visually distinguished from live data through prominent banners, color coding, and watermarks throughout the interface
- Training mode can be activated and deactivated by authorized users (typically Training Officers or administrators)
- Users should verify they are in the correct mode (Training vs. Live) before entering any data
2. Simulated Data
All data created, modified, or generated during training exercises is simulated data that does not affect real incidents, real patients, or real operational records.
- Simulated patients, incidents, and resources are clearly marked as training data
- Training data is stored separately and does not co-mingle with operational data
- Training data may be purged or archived according to the agency's training data retention policies
- No real patient information, PHI, or personally identifiable information should be entered during training exercises
3. AI Analysis of Training Exercises
MayDay-IC provides AI-powered analysis of training exercises, including performance assessments, timeline analysis, and improvement recommendations. All AI-generated training analysis is advisory in nature.
- AI analysis reflects patterns observed in the training data and may not capture all relevant performance factors
- AI recommendations should be reviewed by qualified training officers before being incorporated into training programs
- AI analysis may not account for contextual factors, environmental conditions, or agency-specific requirements that training officers would consider
- Performance scores and ratings generated by AI are approximate and should be interpreted in context
4. Not Certified Training or Continuing Education
Important Notice
Training exercises conducted within MayDay-IC do not constitute certified training, continuing education credits, or professional development hours unless explicitly arranged and documented by your agency in partnership with an accredited certifying body. MayDay-IC is not an accredited training institution, continuing education provider, or certification body.
- Completion of training scenarios in MayDay-IC does not fulfill any regulatory training requirements unless your agency has specifically designated it as part of an approved training program
- MayDay-IC does not issue certificates, credentials, or continuing education units (CEUs)
- Agencies should consult with their training divisions and applicable regulatory bodies regarding the use of MayDay-IC exercises for training documentation
5. Performance Metrics
Performance metrics generated during training exercises (response times, triage accuracy, resource utilization, etc.) are approximate measurements based on data entered into the application during the exercise.
- Metrics are influenced by data entry speed, device performance, network conditions, and user familiarity with the application
- Performance metrics should not be used as the sole basis for personnel evaluations, disciplinary actions, promotions, or other employment decisions
- Metrics provide general indicators of exercise performance and should be interpreted in the broader context of the training program by qualified evaluators
- Comparative metrics between exercises may not be directly comparable due to varying scenario complexity, team composition, and environmental factors
6. Scenario Accuracy
Training scenarios and simulations within MayDay-IC are designed to provide realistic practice environments but may not accurately represent all aspects of real-world emergency conditions.
- Scenarios are simplified models of complex real-world situations and cannot capture all variables present in actual emergencies
- Environmental factors (weather, terrain, visibility, noise) that significantly impact real operations may not be fully simulated
- Interpersonal dynamics, stress responses, physical fatigue, and other human factors present in real emergencies are not replicated in app-based training
- Scenario parameters are based on general emergency management principles and may not reflect region-specific or agency-specific conditions
7. Training Completion & Certification
Completion of training exercises within MayDay-IC does not constitute certification in any emergency management discipline, medical protocol, ICS position, or operational capability. Certification and qualification determinations remain the exclusive responsibility of authorized certifying bodies, training academies, and agency credentialing programs.
8. Agency Training Policies
Agency training policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and applicable regulatory requirements take precedence over any training guidance, recommendations, or scenarios provided within MayDay-IC. Users and agencies should:
- Ensure MayDay-IC training exercises align with their agency's approved training curriculum
- Follow their agency's policies regarding the documentation and recognition of technology-assisted training
- Consult with their training division before incorporating MayDay-IC exercises into official training programs
- Comply with all applicable OSHA, NFPA, state, and local training requirements regardless of MayDay-IC training features
9. Live Exercise Safety
Safety First
When using MayDay-IC as part of live training exercises (field exercises, tabletop exercises, functional exercises, or full-scale exercises), all agency safety protocols must be followed. MayDay-IC is a digital tool and does not replace the need for:
- Designated safety officers during live exercises
- Written exercise safety plans and risk assessments
- Proper PPE and safety equipment
- Emergency action plans for exercise-related injuries or incidents
- Clear "exercise, exercise, exercise" communications to prevent confusion with real emergencies
