ACCEPTANCE OF RISK — PLEASE READ BEFORE USE
By using this product—whether for yourself, on behalf of your agency, or for any personnel operating under your authority or direction—you acknowledge and agree that MayDay-IC is NOT a decision-making system and shall NOT be used as the basis for any decision regarding any type of emergency response, tactical operation, medical intervention, resource deployment, or any other action during any incident, for any reason.
Solely relying on this system for accurate, dependable, or actionable decisions can and/or will result in DEATH, DISMEMBERMENT, and/or MENTAL OR PHYSICAL INJURY THAT MAY BE PERMANENT, IRREVERSIBLE, OR OTHERWISE INCURABLE.
By continuing to access and use this system, you expressly agree that you will ALWAYS exercise independent human judgment when deciding upon any response, tactic, strategy, treatment, protocol, or course of action, and when evaluating whether any information presented by this system is true, accurate, complete, current, or applicable to your specific circumstances. No output of this system—including but not limited to AI-generated recommendations, data displays, alerts, triage classifications, maps, protocol guidance, or any other content—shall be treated as a substitute for the professional judgment of trained, qualified, and authorized personnel.
CRITICAL SAFETY WARNING: RISK OF SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH
Solely relying on the recommendations, data, outputs, or any information provided by MayDay-IC may result in serious bodily injury, permanent disability, dismemberment, or death to you, your coworkers, other emergency responders, patients, bystanders, or any other persons involved in or affected by an incident.
This application is a supplemental coordination tool. It does not replace professional training, direct patient assessment, established agency protocols, standard operating procedures, or the professional judgment of qualified personnel.
1. Scope of This Warning
This Operational Risk & Safety Disclaimer applies to all features, outputs, and data within the MayDay-IC application, including but not limited to:
- AI-generated recommendations and protocol guidance
- Triage classifications and patient care suggestions (START, JumpSTART, SALT, ESI)
- Evacuation route planning and zone designations
- Hazmat placard lookups and ERG reference data
- Resource deployment and logistics recommendations
- Weather analysis and situational awareness data
- GPS-based positioning and navigation
- Hospital capacity and diversion status information
- Equipment tracking and accountability data
- Communication tools including Push-to-Talk and messaging
- Training scenario outputs and performance analysis
- All other features within the application
2. Risk of Injury, Death, or Dismemberment
Emergency response operations are inherently dangerous. The nature of emergency work—including firefighting, law enforcement, emergency medical services, hazardous materials response, search and rescue, and disaster management—involves significant and unavoidable risks of serious physical harm.
MayDay-IC outputs may be:
- Incorrect: AI recommendations, algorithmic triage, and data analysis may produce wrong conclusions based on incomplete, inaccurate, or misinterpreted input data
- Incomplete: The application cannot account for all variables present in a real-world emergency, including environmental conditions, structural hazards, chemical exposures, human behavior, or rapidly changing circumstances
- Outdated: Data, protocols, ERG guides, and reference materials may not reflect the most current versions, standards, or best practices
- Delayed: Network latency, sync delays, and offline operation may cause displayed information to lag behind actual field conditions
- Inappropriate: Generalized recommendations may not be suitable for the specific, unique conditions of your incident
Acting solely on information from this application—without independent verification, professional judgment, and direct assessment of conditions—may lead to decisions that result in injury, death, or dismemberment of yourself, your coworkers, other responders, patients, civilians, or any other persons.
3. Persons at Risk
The risks described in this disclaimer extend to all persons who may be affected by decisions made using MayDay-IC, including but not limited to:
- You (the user): As an emergency responder, decisions based on incorrect app data may place you in direct physical danger
- Your coworkers and crew members: Operational decisions affect the safety of your entire team
- Other emergency responders: Mutual aid partners, supporting agencies, and interoperable teams rely on shared data accuracy
- Patients and victims: Triage, treatment, and transport decisions directly impact patient outcomes
- Bystanders and civilians: Evacuation orders, hazard zone designations, and public safety decisions affect community members
- Displaced persons: Repatriation, shelter, and area clearance decisions affect vulnerable populations
4. AI and Automated Recommendations
MayDay-IC incorporates artificial intelligence and algorithmic decision-support tools. These tools:
- Are trained on general data and may not reflect your specific operational environment, local protocols, or jurisdictional requirements
- May produce outputs that appear authoritative but are fundamentally wrong
- Cannot perceive, assess, or respond to real-world conditions—only a trained human on scene can do that
- May exhibit biases, hallucinations, or logical errors inherent in AI systems
- Have no understanding of the consequences of their outputs
AI recommendations must never be the sole basis for any life-safety decision. All AI outputs require human review, verification, and approval by qualified personnel before implementation.
5. Your Responsibilities
By using MayDay-IC, you acknowledge and accept that:
- You are a trained professional operating within your scope of practice and qualifications
- You will exercise independent professional judgment for all operational decisions

- You will not rely solely on MayDay-IC for any life-safety decision

- You will report any application errors, inaccuracies, or concerning outputs to your supervisor and to MayDay-IC support
6. No Warranty of Safety
MayDay-IC makes no warranty, express or implied, that use of this application will result in safe outcomes. The application is provided "as is" without any guarantee of accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or fitness for any particular purpose, including life-safety purposes.
7. Assumption of Risk
By using MayDay-IC, you voluntarily assume all risks associated with your use of the application, including the risk of serious bodily injury, permanent disability, dismemberment, or death to yourself or others.
